Charles Minars with Chris Sutton (C.E.O. and Founder of C.O.B.R.A. Self Defense International)
Charles Minars is the head instructor of C.O.B.R.A. Self Defense Lexington KY. He has a Masters degree in Science and graduated from the U.S. Naval Nuclear Power School and then served in the Western Pacific Fleet (U.S.S. Nimitz CVN-68 and U.S.S. Frank Cable AS-40) for almost 12 years as a nuclear technician. After leaving naval service, he moved his family to Keene, KY, where he has resided for the last 20 years.
Since the early 80’s, Charles has followed the path of Budo, enjoying studying such arts as Aikido, Aiki-jo, Aiki-bokken, Kenjutsu, Karate and Taekwando. He credits most of his life’s successes to the mental and physical discipline that life in the dojo gave him. However, throughout his life, he has sought 2 important things in the Martial Arts that often times were lacking or at least not focused upon: Self Defense and being able to prevent people from being victims of violent crimes.
His journey eventually led him to the virtual doorstep of Chris Sutton, the founder of C.O.B.R.A., a very skilled and passionate martial artist with a long pedegree in the Traditonal Martial Arts, that pioneered the path of real world self defense training known as C.O.B.R.A. based on his real life experiences in law enforcement and department of corrections.
It is his honor to serve the Greater Lexington and surrounding areas by bringing this world renowned system of real world self defense to Kentuckians with the hopes of improving their lives and empowering them.
